Fr. Guezou the Founder
Mission-Visionary

Customer Relations Director,
Ian Clarke, with children from the school in India
|
| In 1962, Father Francis
Guezou - a French Salesian priest - was inspired
by the Don Bosco vision of education for underpriviledged
youth, and founded a school in the Yellagiri Hills,
near Chennai (formerly Madras). A small one storey
building has grown to become a large campus with
accommodation units, dining and kitchen facilities,
as well as teaching and production blocks. |
| At any one time, the
centre has over 170 pupils aged between 5 and 18
who come from the poorer families in the region
and would otherwise not be able to afford a formal
education for their children. They are provided
with food, accommodation and education. Most importantly,
they are treated to holistic love and care. |
Further education, at
the age of sixteen, is available to all at the
on-campus BICS training centre. On graduation many
go on to work for IT companies in India (including
Bosco Infotech) and other parts of the world. Those
who wish to remain in the cool tranquility of rural
Yellagiri stay with their families while they work
at the on-campus, design and production centres.
This supports the local economy and ensures stability
of personnel. |
| Bosco InfoTech is the
newly-founded commercial arm to support this venture
as well as that of the similar charity activities
of the Don Bosco Group of Charity Institutions. |
| Their raison d'etre
is to provide continuous funding for the education
of the rural youth without relying on charitable
subsidies. They are responsible for marketing in
India and South East Asia. |
| Bosco's comparative
advantage is the access that they have to highly
skilled people, backed up by a research and development
team who conduct 'blue sky' IT research. |
| Saffron Page is a UK-based
commercial company who are the sole distributors
of Bosco's services in Europe. By using Saffron
Page you and your organisation will be playing an
active part in enabling Bosco InfoTech to continue
to provide an education for children from the poorer
families in South India. |
